Beginner Lessons: Ten Steps to Basic Bridge starts Monday, March 31

We’ve just “sprung forward”, so now is a good time to pick up the game of bridge!

“Ten Steps to Basic Bridge” starts Monday, March 31, 2025 and runs on Monday & Thursday evenings through May 8. In this lesson series, you’ll learn Bridge from the ground up using Standard American bidding with a couple of modern twists. This fast-paced series appeals to those with at least a little cardplaying experience, as well as players who want to get back into the game using modern methods.

During the week of April 28, we’ll have “practice bridge” sessions instead of the regular lessons. By then, you’ll know plenty about bidding and play, and you’ll be ready to try things out!

“Ten Steps to Basic Bridge” starts Monday, January 6, 2025 and runs on Monday & Thursday evenings through February 6. In this lesson series, you’ll learn Bridge from the ground up using Standard American bidding with a couple of modern twists. This fast-paced series appeals to those with at least a little cardplaying experience, as well as players who want to get back into the game using modern methods.

Bridge Lessons: Two Over One in a Nutshell starts October 21, 2024

“Two Over One in a Nutshell,” a series of lessons for Bridge players, starts Monday, October 21, 2024 and runs on Monday & Thursday evenings through November 25 (no class on October 31). This will be a guided discussion of selected topics from “Two Over One in a Nutshell” by Dee Berry. This series is appropriate for players with a reasonably solid understanding of the basics of the game of Bridge.

Space is limited to 20 students.

In this lesson series, you’ll learn Bridge from the ground up using Standard American bidding with a couple of modern twists. This fast-paced series appeals to those with at least a little cardplaying experience, as well as players who want to get back into the game using modern methods.

Learning & Practice activities at Seattle Bridge Center – Aug-Nov 2024

Practice Bridge on Monday August 26 and September 2 (yes, on Labor Day) – Cost: $5 per person (cash please) – 7pm to 9pm.

Rookie Duplicate Bridge on Tuesday evenings (no Rookie game on August 20). The game starts at 7pm sharp, please arrive at least 5 minutes ahead of time. Cost: $5 per player, cash preferred.

Beginner lessons: Ten Steps to Basic Bridge, Monday & Thursday evenings, 7pm to 9:30, September 9 through October 10. Cost: $15 per lesson, pay as you go, cards and cash accepted.

Intermediate bidding lessons: Two Over One in a Nutshell, Monday & Thursday evenings, 7pm to 9:30, October 21 through November 25 (no class October 31). Cost: $15 per lesson, pay as you go, cards and cash accepted. $12 for the book if you don’t have it already.

Casual Bridge Play at Seattle Bridge Center – November/December 2023

On Monday evenings from November 20 through December 18, Seattle Bridge Center is hosting Casual Bridge Play from 7pm to 9pm. Light snacks provided. Come on whichever Mondays work for you.

If you’ve just finished a lesson series, or you are returning to the game and feeling rusty, you can practice your bridge skills with supervised play. You can ask questions about how to bid or play a hand, and you can use printed reference materials.

Or if you are brand new to the game of bridge, we’ll introduce you to the basic ideas of the game and we may even be able to get some cards into your hands.

Or if you are a more experienced player, come on by! With enough experienced players, we’ll set up a table for you where you can play at your own pace.

Most play will be shuffle-and-deal with random hands. Occasionally, we will introduce some elements of competitive play by comparing results between tables. No masterpoints will be awarded.

Cost: $5 cash per person, with discounts for players age 18 and under.
